| The response to our attempt to explore relationships between the teaching of Shakespeare in schools and enthusiasm for Shakespeare's plays was disappointing. Of 100 questionnaires distributed at Stratford, we received only 17 responses. The majority of these spoke with enthusiasm about the ways they had been introduced to Shakespeare in the class room. And, interestingly, the three who had only negative memories all listed at least one of the plays studied at school as a 'favourite'. |
